Richard Dawkins has a high reputation in the biological sciences. He is also well-known through the media for his persistent efforts to disseminate the view that science and religion are in conflict. Some of his claims are examined below.

Information about products and services available from the Character Education Center. There is an on-line newsletter, published monthly, called 'Values in Action' containing news and documents relating to character education, values education and ethics awareness. There is also a substantial list of ethics related internet resources.

The WWW site of the CiS, "a professional Christian group for all who are concerned about science/faith issues. Among its more than 600 members are scientists engaged in research and development, science lecturers, teachers and administrators in universities and schools, science writers, philosophers, theologians, and others who have an interest in the relationship between science and Christian faith". The site contains information about the organisation's aims, membership, conference and other meetings. The site also contains details of the journal "Science and Christian Belief". While the journal is published in print form and subject to subscription, there are abstracts of some articles from recent issues of the journal, within this site. These article cover a wide range of scientific, moral and theological issues. The site contains a link to an associated group called "Christians in Science Education" whose concern is "to provide a service to Christians who are involved in science education, to keep people in touch with developments in this field, and to help them to bring a Christian perspective to their work".

A gateway for the Study and Teaching of Theology. This gateway will be undergoing change in format from its current extensive bibliography of links. The main sections currently are "General Guides", "Bibles and Biblical Studies", "History of Theology", "Contemporary Theology", "Pastoral Studies", "Religions and Denominations". There are two further useful sections "Publishers of Electronic and Printed Materials", "Institutions, Libraries and Departments".

EXPLORE is a quarterly journal examining Catholic identity and Ignatian character in higher education. The current issue and 4 previous issues are archived on this site. Recent articles include Interactions between Religion and Psychology, Jesuit Activities, Jesuits and the Sciences. The Bannan Institute is based at the Santa Clara University.

The JRE aims to "offer serious ethical reflection set in the context of specific religious traditions and communities. The journal seeks to publish essays in three domains: studies in comparative religious ethics, considerations of foundational conceptual and methodological issues, and historical studies of influential figures and texts." The site is a Gopher resource and consists of contents pages with article abstracts covering 1990-1994. A journal of the same name is published by Blackwell and the contents, together with article abstracts, of recent volumes is available online.

This journal aims to work creatively between the two areas of theology and literary studies. Previous issues have included articles on biblical criticism, the ethics of reading and postmodern perspectives on questions of politics and history. Important areas for future debate will include issues in feminism, desire and the body, blasphemy, cultural study and film. There is an index of issues with abstracts of articles.

The Society, Religion and Technology Project (SRT for short) is a unique unit of the Church of Scotland set up in 1970 to examine some of these vital issues of our times. We bring professional expertise to providing informed and penetrating comment for technologists, the Church and the public alike. The Society, Religion and Technology Project has recently been awarded the 1999 John Templeton UK Institution Award. This Web site contains briefing notes on current issues being examined by the project such as human cloning, a quartely news bulletin, reports from local assemblies and working groups and publication details.
