The UK government department for education and skills (DES) offers this website to provide support and information to schools and parents about the new curriculum subject of citizenship education. There is a section for teachers, for pupils and for parents & governors. There are a few sample lesson plans, schemes of work and some stimulation material for pupils. There is also a substantial selection of annotated links to other websites catergorised under nine headings.

The Citizenship Foundation describes itself as "an independent charity working to promote more effective citizenship through education about the law, democracy and society." It was founded in 1989. The website offers: some teaching support materials (mostly own publications); a substantial number of categorised summaries of case study materials; details of its own training programmes; and a section called 'active learning'. This latter section is about legal oriented presentations/debates available to schools in certain parts of the country.

The www resource of Civitas, a non governmental organisation which aims to "strengthen effective education for informed and responsible citizenship in new and established democracies around the world". The Civitas secretariat is based in Strasbourg, France. The site contains teaching resources (bibliographies, curricula, lesson plans (also in Spanish and French) and textbooks); a collection of significant documents; the CIVITAS on-line Journal; directories of information on organizations and programs; NGO newsletters; calendars of events and information on CIVITAS activities and events. The Journal publishes bi-monthly and has an archive covering the period present to May 1997. There are several articles which deal with religion, morality and ideology in democratic society. The teaching resources section contains lesson plans on subjects like authority, justice, rights & responsibilities.
