Scenario 1

You are the Managing Director of the well-established company GET OUT, which specialises in the production of garments and accessories for a wide range of outdoor activities such as camping, walking and cycling.

You have decided to revitalise your business by developing a new coordinated product range of leisurewear for the typical family.

You hope that the new range of leisurewear will be innovative and fashionable, yet still complement your existing image as a provider of traditional outdoor clothing of quality yet good value. Final cost of the product will be very important to you, however so will the quality of fabrics and components used and the quality of production.

As you can imagine the success of the product is very important to you, the quality of the Design Specification is therefore also important as it will describe the possibilities and restrictions of the product. You must listen to the views of the potential user, and those of the experts of designing and production and utilise this information to produce a thorough list of specification criteria.

SENARIO 2

You are a freelance Fashion Designer who has been approached by the company GET OUT to produce a range of leisurewear for the typical family.

You see your designs having been influenced by ‘Board Wear’ - relaxed unisex baggy clothing, that could easily be adapted for all members of the family by the addition of design details and accessories. The possible introduction of a logo appeals to you, but if this is to be successful you feel that it will be necessary for GETOUT to invest some money into marketing this new product range, only then will they be able to reach their full potential market.

SENARIO 3

As a member of a ‘typical’ family yourself, you are a potential user of the product, you need to give your opinions to what will be important criteria to the Design Specification.

SENARIO 4

You are the mother within a ‘typical’ family. You like to see your family wearing fashionable clothing of a good quality, but your budget is often limited. It is therefore important to you that the products are durable and easy to care for. As a mother you are also concerned by the safety of the item for your child and the ease of use when it comes to fastenings.

SENARIO 5

You are the Production Manager of a clothing manufacturing business STITCHWELLS. The company GETOUT has approached you to produce their new range of leisurewear garments for a typical family. You have the reputation of producing clothing of a good quality, and generally are set up to production on a flow or batch method, and therefore would be keen to see a range which are more adaptable by size rather than design and thus process.
